Our Mission

IMH exists to make the Buddha’s teachings on insight meditation — Vipassana — freely available to anyone who seeks them. We offer a welcoming, non-dogmatic environment for sincere practice at all levels.

We operate on the ancient principle of dana: teachings are given freely, and the community sustains itself through generosity.

Rooted in the Theravada Tradition

IMH’s teachers trained in the Western Theravada tradition as taught at Spirit Rock Meditation Center (Jack Kornfield, Sylvia Boorstein), Insight Meditation Society (Joseph Goldstein, Sharon Salzberg), and Birken Forest Monastery (Ajahn Sona). This lineage traces directly to the Thai Forest tradition of Ajahn Chah and Ajahn Mun, and ultimately to the Buddha’s original teachings.
