Our Teachers

IMH’s lead teachers have completed rigorous formal training in the Theravada tradition. They teach from direct experience as longtime practitioners, retreat students, and community members before becoming teachers.

Ginger Clarkson, Community Dharma Leader at Insight Meditation Houston

Ginger Clarkson

Ginger Clarkson has been a dedicated Vipassana practitioner and teacher for over two decades. She is certified by Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California, where she studied under Jack Kornfield and completed the Dedicated Dharma Practitioner program — one of Spirit Rock’s most rigorous paths for developing community teachers.

Before coming to IMH, Ginger founded and led the Cholula Vipassana Sangha in Cholula, Mexico for twelve years, bringing Insight Meditation to Spanish-speaking practitioners. She has completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education at the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care and volunteers as a hospice chaplain — work that has deeply informed her teaching on impermanence, compassion, and being fully present with what is.

A Note on Teacher Lineage

In the Theravada tradition, teachers receive formal authorization from their own teachers — maintaining an unbroken lineage of transmission. IMH’s teachers trained under established Western and Asian masters, ensuring that the teachings offered here reflect authentic Dharma as received from the source.

Questions for our teachers can be submitted via the contact form or asked directly during Monday evening discussions.
