What to Expect
Monday evenings at IMH are informal and unpretentious. There’s no dress code, no required rituals, and no expectation of Buddhist knowledge. Wear comfortable clothing.
Chairs are provided for everyone. If you prefer to sit on the floor, feel free to bring your own meditation cushion (zafu) or mat — some practitioners do. Some cushions are also available. Either way is completely fine.
The dharma talk portion rotates between teacher presentations and guided group inquiry. Sometimes fellow members or community teachers give a sangha share about their experiences with the practice. Questions are always welcomed. We learn from each other.

Common Questions
Do I need to register in advance?
No registration required. Simply show up any Monday at 7:00 PM. Online attendees get the Zoom link via the weekly newsletter or our WhatsApp Community Channel.
What happens if I arrive late?
Come on in quietly. No worries. The first 10 minutes of our meeting is an open-eyed movement practice called Qi Gong — just come in and join us. If later and the meditation has already started, come in quietly and settle into the sit. Gently place your attention on the sensations of the out-breath and in-breath. When your mind wanders, without judgment, gently return your attention to the breath. Repeat until the bell is rung.
Is there parking nearby?
Street parking is available on Caroline St and surrounding blocks. The Covenant Church lot may also have spaces. Plan for 10 minutes extra if you’re unfamiliar with the Midtown/Museum District area.
Can I attend only online?
Yes. The Zoom link is distributed in our weekly email newsletter (sent the week before) and in our WhatsApp Community Channel (posted on Monday). Subscribe to either to receive it.
How long is each session?
The full evening runs 90 minutes: typically 20-30 minutes of seated meditation, followed by a dharma talk and discussion. You’re free to stay for the full evening or leave after the sitting if needed.
