Give Dana
Support the Sangha
For over 40 years, IMH has offered free meditation instruction in the spirit of the ancient dana tradition. Your generosity keeps these teachings accessible to everyone.
What is Dana?
Dana is the Pali word for generosity. In the Buddhist tradition, teachings are offered as a gift — freely, without price. Teachers give their time and wisdom. Students give back what they are able. This mutual generosity sustains the dharma across generations.
At IMH, we take this seriously. We have never charged admission for our Monday sittings. We never will. Whether you are a student, a retiree on a fixed income, or simply curious — you are welcome, and dana is offered by you only if and when it feels right.
When you do give, your gift directly supports: room rental at Covenant Church, teacher honoraria, retreat scholarships for members who need support, and the operational costs of keeping this community running.
Give Online
IMH is a registered 501(c)(3) non- profit, and donations are tax-deductible. Contributions of any amount are deeply appreciated.
In-Person Dana
A dana bowl is available at our Monday sittings. Checks made payable to “Insight Meditation Houston” are always welcome. There is never any obligation or expectation.

What your dana supports
Venue & Operations
Room rental at Covenant Church, website, insurance, and administrative costs that keep IMH running.
Teacher Honoraria
Our teachers give generously of their time. Dana allows us to offer meaningful support in return.
Retreat Scholarships
We fund partial or full scholarships for members for whom retreat costs would otherwise be prohibitive.
Community Events
Special events, visiting teachers, and community gatherings that bring the sangha together beyond Monday sittings.
“Generosity is the most natural outward expression of an inner attitude of compassion and loving-kindness.“
—The Dalai Lama XIV
