Overview

Insight Meditation Houston (“IMH,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it. We collect as little data as necessary and never sell your information to anyone.

Information We Collect

Contact Form

When you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject, and message. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is delivered to us by email. We do not add contact form submissions to our newsletter list without your explicit consent.

Newsletter Subscription

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address via Mailchimp, our email newsletter service. This is used only to send the IMH weekly newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.

Website Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site (pages visited, time on site, general geographic region, device type). Google Analytics collects this data using cookies and may associate it with other information Google holds about you if you are signed in to a Google account. This data is aggregated and used solely to improve our website — we do not use it to identify individual visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Information You Provide via WordPress

This site is built on WordPress. If commenting is enabled on a page, we may collect the commenter’s name, email address, and IP address to help with spam prevention. WordPress may also set functional cookies as described below.

Cookies

This website uses cookies. A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser. The cookies we use fall into the following categories:

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — Track aggregate usage patterns (pages viewed, session duration, referral source). Retained for up to 26 months. You may opt out via your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
  • Functional cookies (WordPress) — WordPress may set cookies to manage login sessions, remember comment author information, and maintain basic site functionality. These are essential for the platform to operate.
  • Embedded content (Google Calendar) — Our Meetings page embeds a Google Calendar showing upcoming sittings and events. Viewing it may result in Google setting its own cookies, subject to Google’s privacy policy.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some site features.

How We Use Your Information

Data Retention

Contact form messages are retained in our email inbox for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, and are typically deleted within 12 months. Newsletter subscription data is retained by Mailchimp until you unsubscribe. Google Analytics data is retained for up to 26 months per Google’s default retention settings.
