IMH is a volunteer-run, self-supporting, non-profit organization supported by the generosity of its attendees. We believe the cultivation of generosity to be an important part of practice and offer this as an opportunity for our Sangha members to co-create this group through donations of money and service.
All of our weekly sittings and small groups are offered freely and we try our best to offer our retreats on an at-cost basis with scholarships available. The teachers donate their time and teachings for the love of this group and there are opportunities to offer them dana at retreats.
What is Dana?
Dana is the Pali word for generosity or gifts-freely-given. These teachings have been offered freely in for 2,500 years and IMH strives to continue that tradition.
Dana goes towards reservation costs for retreats, offering scholarships to those retreats, paying for Zoom, rent, insurance, and other general expenses that are required to make our group thrive. Nothing is required but even the smallest acts of generosity are appreciated.
The Buddha said there is joy in the thought of giving, joy in the act of giving, and joy in the remembrance of having given.
